18Nov21 – Updates, Struggles, and Changes, Oh My!

Hey all! It has been a few months since I last posted something, I wasn’t intending to type anything anytime soon, but battling it out in my mind, I made an impromptu decision to post something today, on 18Nov21. I am aware of the posts I made previously. The original plan was to create posts more frequently, on a set and more defined schedule, such as weekly or monthly. The truth is, at the time of this writing, it is very difficult for me to stay driven/motivated, focused, and dedicated, adhering to a set schedule.

Notes on Personal Development/Improvement, Learning, Health:

1. I try and make it a habit for me to continuously learn, learn something new, re-visit previous educational material. I do take breaks and lose interest sometimes and switch to solely entertainment or creative mode, but I do keep coming back to try and learn something new because I do believe it is helpful to my overall well-being and I find actively learning something satisfies my curious/inquiring nature, and to me it feels like I’m headed in the right direction, learning something useful–even something complex, not previously known.

I did take some time and write a backlog of things that I want to learn or look into and explore, to keep track and stay organized. I may share some info in a later post.

2. I started an exercise routine and have been experimenting with different diets and healthier eating habits. I had a professional health check-up earlier and the concerns revolve around diet/exercise which will solve some of the health issues I’ve been having. I know the tough thing about starting a routine is just staying on a routine and continuing doing the work, long-term. It’s really easy to quit too soon and lose interest when “I’m not feeling it”, of which I’ve done a lot of that in the past and quit the routine. Now that I’m writing about it, I’ve made a decision to be more committed to staying on course. This gives me a chance to exercise a trait that’s been on my mind recently that I need to work on, and that is Discipline.

Note on Updates:

I deleted the content for my other more personal blog, GershonOuano.com, and decided to cut costs and take it down. I was barely writing anything on it anyway and it just seemed to make sense financially at that time to take it down. There are other ways for me to express myself, that of which I’m still exploring.

Note on Struggles:

Let it be known that I do struggle with Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective disorder, and depression, among other imperfect traits, poor lifestyle choices, and personality, and symptoms come and go, and are sometimes negligible/mild/severe. So, to be clear, I’m not a perfectly healthy or normal human being, I’m a fallible person with faults just like everyone else, I just desire to be better, if not the best I can be, and sometimes do what I can and do something about it.

Note on Changes:

Moving forward, I decided for now to write and post content, not based on a schedule, but only if I want to share something that I think will be useful for people, that way content won’t be forced, and that it will be a natural interest for me to write, express, and share something useful and beneficial.

I’ll be testing things out on this site, such as the layout and look of the site/themes, and I’ll start allowing comments on posts and see how that goes–which is a big step for me, going out of my comfort zone.
